Hello beekeepers!
Our research group at Bremen University is planning to run a global honey bee investigation. This project will systematically address bee diseases, parasites, the influene of climate and weather and aims to contribute to bee health. The future project will be run in close collaboration with beekeepers who can contribute best a lot of "practical" knowledge about bees and beekeeping as well as the harvest of honey bee products. At this very first step, I am looking for information about russian bee keeping organisations and also universities in russia that have a strong trank record in biological or agricultural honey bee research. This might hhalp a lot to find russian partners for a collaboration. Your help is very much appreciated! Thanks in advance! tox (researcher and beekeeper) |

Sorry, I couldn't write in this forum for a number of days.
@Море Мёда: Thank you very much indeed This is a very intersting website! I will definitely post questions and comments there! @HOST (Thanks) and @Вок адур: In fact, this is a very interesting question. There is a lot of "common knowldge" among beekeepers about poor qualities of honeydew in winter (--> "animal" honey?) compared to flower honey. Controlled scientific experiments on this topic are rare. Also, it would be interesting to compare the qualities of sugar syrup (saccharose) to pre-inverted syrup (fructose & glucose). It should be easier for the bees with the inverted sugars, since they have less work to do - but the bee are usually a little better than humans in doing bee-jobs. Thus, they might make "better" bee-inverted sugars from saccharose. |
